What are the specialties of this talent?
Reinier is very comfortable and proficient in executing financial modelling, company analysis etc. In addition, he shows a strong business sense, a good analytical approach and is pragmatic and creative in finding ways to uncover the required insights. Also, Reinier has proven to have an excellent "nose for value" in several situations, including pacing the process of buying out a minority shareholder (resulting in higher value for our portfolio company) as well as rightfully challenging the assessment of upside potential of his seniors in specific leads. For his tenure, Reinier well developed in terms of deal execution and is increasingly taking the lead on several larger transaction workstreams. Also, he has really developed spikes on bank financing and management participations.
How does the talent distinguish itself from its peers?
Reinier shows strong leadership qualities way beyond his tenure. This is reflected in the fact that the management boards of the portfolio companies he works with see him as an important and mature sounding board. In addition, within the team he is a clear role model of our Operating Principles: ambitious, very professional and 'true north'. Resulting, Reinier made a fast-tracked promotion from Analyst to Associate. Within only a few months after his start, Reinier received the nickname 'Goldcrest' – as every deal he touched materialized into a transaction. Finally, his energy and positive can-do attitude make it a pleasure to work with him, but also helps in the deal conversion process as management teams / DGAs look positively upon the talents and skills a young professional like Reinier brings to the table.
What impact does the talent have within the organization?
As a true role model in our Operating Principles, Reinier helps other team members and interns grow professionally, but also helps us to grow as a team. In addition, he played an important role in the complex carve-out transactions of Fabory (from Grainger) and the Cable Connectivity Group (from TKH Group) from publicly listed corporates.
What impact does the talent have outside the organization?
Reinier has a strong contribution in the rapid and profitable growth of our portfolio companies PDG and Sonic, not only by driving the M&A agenda but also by driving strategic decisions and initiatives to improve commercial execution.
Also, Reinier is a real asset in terms of deal conversion as management teams / DGAs look positively upon the talents and skills a young professional like Reinier brings to the table. Finally, he is actively building his network in the M&A world – levering his strong interpersonal skills to become a well-known member of the (junior) M&A industry in the Benelux.
To what extent does the talent makes the difference to clients?
Reinier shows strong leadership qualities way beyond his tenure. This is reflected in the fact that the management boards of the portfolio companies he works with see him as an important and mature sounding board. He has done an outstanding job in onboarding, guiding and coaching the new CFO and Business Development Director at one of our portfolio companies to quickly get up-to-speed and make an immediate and strong business impact.
Why does the talent deserves this nomination?
In the long run, we see Reinier as one of the key pillars of Torqx and are confident he will continue to develop himself as a well-rounded and high performing Private Equity professional. Although Reinier already rises well above his peers with his almost 2.00 meters, we think that Reinier will become an even larger (read: much bigger) force in this industry!
