What are the specialties of this talent?
Leonard is Investment Manager in our portfolio team. He spends most days in the week working on location in our portfolio companies. Leonard is very self-starting and an autonomous thinker. He manages to get excellent rapport with the management teams he works with, thus enabling him to be very effective in his portfolio work. Leonard is good at building a relationship of trust with colleagues but also employees of the different layers in the portfolio companies and external advisors. Is seen by the various portfolio companies as a good sparring partner and how to judge objectively but also to enter into a discussion.

How does the talent distinguish itself from its peers?
With his relative young age of 29, Leonard is very mature and works very independent in the portfolio companies he is responsible for. He is strong in supporting our companies and feeding his ACC colleagues with ample and useful information on progress, positive developments and potential issues. Leonard has a broad range of interests within our own team, but also for the portfolio management teams and other individuals he works with. Leonard is critical, sets high standards for himself and is disciplined. He shows serious resilience, even when the chips are down, he will still try to make the best out of a bad situation and do everything with full commitment.

What impact does the talent have within the organization?
Leonard is a role model for younger colleagues in what a steep learning curve he has managed in his almost five years on the job. Leonard has been responsible for recruitment and managing of our interns for several years now. Leonard is also a good multitasker, as he is responsible for the financial fund reporting of our third investment fund and he likes to be involved in multiple projects from fund management, preparation of strategic offsites and creating business ideas with managing directors from our different portfolio companies. 

What impact does the talent have outside the organization?
Outside of work Leonard likes to be a team player and is competitive in sports such as running and cycling. Leonard sets goals and is a go-getter. He is also a loyal person to a large group of friends and family. He was also involved in a reorganization of the long term strategy from Rotterdam’s largest student fraternity (during a full time board position). He is also involved in helping friends on business plans and strategy. 

To what extent does the talent makes the difference to clients?
Leonard is a good listener and hence a trusted person for management and employees in our portfolio companies. The combination of being analytical smart and having a very strong soft-skills set allows him to make a true impact in the companies he is active in. Takes a neutral stance and is taken seriously. Dares to confront. Is a good conversation partner / partner in discussions. Besides a great colleague, also a good friend in the office.

Why does the talent deserves this nomination?
Leonard is a rare example of a talent that has it all. He never shies away from challenges, always has time to help younger colleagues, gets enormous amounts of work done, analytically very strong and still has time to truly listen to the people he works with. Impressive.
