LSP lanceert life science-fonds van 280 miljoen dollar
De appetite naar investeren in life sciences is kennelijk groot. "The interest from family offices and private investors looking for broad exposure to life sciences in Europe has increased significantly over the years,” aldus Dr René Kuijten, Managing Partner bij LSP, in het persbericht.
Ook wijdt Kuijten het succes aan de performance van LSP. "The basis of this fundraising success is reflective of our strong financial performance as well as meeting the challenges of life sciences investing. This has been recognized by not only large and loyal institutional investors, but also by strategic partners like the pharmaceutical company Bristol-Myers Squibb, who selected LSP as a partner for identifying and investing in European breakthrough technologies."
Het nieuwe fonds heeft al aandelenbelangen genomen in 9 bedrijven, waaronder het Ierse Neuravi, Zwitserse Nouscom en beursgenoteerde Kuros Biosciences. LSP 5 richt zich op Europa en investeert in ongeveer 20 bedrijven die zich bezighouden met medicijnontwikkeling, medische appartuur en de ontwikkeling van diagnostiek.
"The healthcare sector is developing favorably and European science is reaching new heights," zegt Kuijten. "There are a lot of opportunities for investment in the sector and we will continue to explore these avenues as we have done in the past.”
LSP is een onafhankelijke Europese investeringsmaatschappij, dat kapitaal verstrekt aan zowel private als beursgenoteerde bedrijven in de life sciences. Sinds de jaren 80 heeft LSP al in ongeveer 100 ondernemingen deelgenomen.
