What are the specialties of this talent?
Marijn perfectly balances his analytical eye and interpersonal skills to get the job done. He is definitely the smartest person in the room and developed exceptional financial modeling, valuation and deal structuring skills. His professional expertise combined with his likable personality enables Marijn to quickly build a trusted relationship with (potential) sellers, entrepreneurs and management teams. Despite being in his early 30s, Marijn is seen as a mature and important sounding board for the executives of many of our portfolio companies.

With his active involvement in deal sourcing and execution, portfolio management as well as fund raising activities, Marijn is a step ahead of most of his peers in the industry. He has been involved in some 15 NewPort investments since he joined our team about a year after inception of our maiden fund in 2017 and is co-responsible for managing several portfolio companies, in which he has a strong contribution to their accelerated growth strategies. Marijn was also instrumental in the fund raising efforts of our second fund which we closed in April this year. This impressive track record is one he can be extremely proud of.
What impact does the talent have within the organization?
Marijn joined our team relatively soon after inception of NewPort which gave him the unique opportunity to really co-develop our proprietary financial models, deal structuring tools and other standard practices in close liaison with our senior team members. Over the last three years he has developed himself into a renowned private equity professional, highly regarded and respected by advisors and colleagues. Marijn leads the junior colleagues by example and is the go-to colleague for complex questions as well as creative brainstorm sessions. People really listen to and value Marijn’s opinion and as such his impact reaches the entire NewPort organization. Marijn loves his job which makes him fun to work with. Luckily for his colleagues, he never misses out on a social event and scores the last man standing trophy ten out of ten.
What impact does the talent have outside the organization?
Marijn has a very broad interest and masters general knowledge whilst always remaining eager to learn. In his spare time, Marijn is studying political philosophy to fuel his broad interest. Marijn is from the South of the Netherlands and really fosters his Burgundian origin. He keeps close relationships with his family and friends and travels three hours to meet them multiple times a month. Luckily for Marijn, whiskey and champaign tastings are also hosted in Amsterdam so he does not have to get bored during the weekends he stays in Amsterdam.

Marijn is easy going and has exceptional analytical skills which makes him the trusted sparring partner for NewPort portfolio companies’ board members. Marijn is respected for doing more than just scratching the surface and enjoys substantive in-depth discussions based on research and data. Besides, Marijn provides hands-on assistance when necessary in order to relief the burden on management teams and enabling to focus on growing their business.
